The AMS recognizes outstanding leaders in the weather, water, and climate communities at their annual meetings. The society's mission is to advance atmospheric and related sciences, technologies, applications, and services by supporting climate science experts and organizations. This year's theme is "Living in a Changing Environment" where they intend to address many of the climate challenges facing the planet today and define the steps necessary to minimize the impacts. As a recipient, Professor Vecchi will be honored at the 104th AMS Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.
